In 2000, Cook Children’s helped create the Mental Health Connection (MHC) to find gaps in health services in our community and to help fill those gaps with better mental health services in Tarrant County.

Leading the way

Cook Children’s continues to provide funds for MHC and be an active partner in putting the MHC plan into action that has resulted in a process that helps deliver effective, mental health treatment services for children and adolescents. MHC was successful in leading a partnership in 2008 that received an $8.3 million System of Care Grant from SAMHSA, U.S. Department of Health and Human services. This grant helps children ages 0-6 who have serious emotional disturbances in portions of Tarrant, Parker, Hood, Johnson and Palo Pinto counties.
