Healthy Homes
Cook Children's Healthy Homes Asthma Program is designed to create a healthier home environment for children with asthma and their families. Our goal is to increase the quality of life for children with asthma and their families, promote asthma education and reduce the number of visits to the school nurse and emergency room for asthma.
Our Healthy Homes staff members work with families in their homes to identify potential triggers, such as dust, pests, strong smells and smoke. We help eliminate the triggers, as well as provide cleaning supplies and other items to make the home a healthier place for the child with asthma. Participants are in the program for three months and receive home visits and follow-up calls every month to evaluate the progress of the child's asthma symptoms.
